Making My Doll People Friends Happy!

From the very start, about 1999, I wanted to spread the word about what adult fashion doll makeover artists and fashion designers were doing!   When I first found these talented people, there was no outlet for them to show off.   This was pre-Facebook, and all we had were websites, webrings, and emails.   But I managed to get subscribers for Designer Dolls Magazine from 14 different countries around the world.   Because it was for them!   Sure, I took some pleasure in it, but it was always about inspiring other potential doll artists, and, most of all, making them smile! Fast forward to present day, I found that most of the makeover artists were aging now, the beautiful fashion dolls available today certainly need no makeovers, and social media has produced instant gratification junkies, taking from the thrill of waiting for their designs to be in print.   I mean, it became more and more difficult to get people to send me articles and photos in July for...

I'm Not Saying It's a Miracle, But ...

I’m not sure why nobody came up with this “little fix” for the very annoying slippery doll stands out there.   And let’s face it – they’re all slippery - whether they're metal, plastic, acrylic, or wood!  And maybe it’s not as annoying to many doll collectors as it is for me.   But I’m doubting that.   It’s been an issue for me for about 20 years. Picture it:   You’re all excited!   You just bought a new fashion doll!   You put her on a stand you bought (because, believe it or not, most Barbie dolls don’t even come with stands anymore!)   And she slips a bit.   She looks great!   You love her!   You adjust her pose.   And she slips a little … again. Her head is not quite looking at you correctly.   You adjust it slightly.   And the damn thing SLIPS … AGAIN! O.k., now Picture this:   You open up The Mat, cross your fingers that this is indeed “the fix” you’ve been dreaming of for several years no...

What is The Mat ? The Mat is a new, neat, very simple invention that stops your fashion dolls (action figures, etc.) from slipping off their doll stands. I had been frustrated with the problem of “slippage” for so many years that I decided to invent a doll stand all my own.   Well, my designs were innovative, but I’m not an engineer, so there were stumbling blocks along the way.   However, my creative brain overcame all of the obstacles that I found myself up against.   One day it just hit me. I was trying to re-invent the wheel, so to speak.   The doll stands out there were o.k.   Yes, they needed some improvements, and some of them had actually been addressed by many doll enthusiasts around the world.   But there was always something missing.   It was the one thing I had constantly started with whenever I had come up with my newer and better ideas.   It was the matter of the slippery surface! The slippery surface needed to be addresse...
